Skincare: Perhaps one of women's most beloved self care categories. I have always been one of those people who loved their skin, and no price was too high for good quality makeup, monthly facials, and excellent face wash and serums. Once I became ill I began to realize all the toxic chemicals that my favorite items contained. It was so disheartening to know that my face mask had 4 cancer causing ingredients, and my makeup had 10 different hormone disruptors. Not that I wear much makeup nowadays, but if I do face people I always put on at least enough makeup to make me look semi-alive. However, I couldn't keep doing that while knowing I was harming myself in the process. Just because you are sick does not mean that you are not still a girl who wants to look good for other people. To me, that never goes away.
The hardest part of making the switch to natural, toxic free skincare and makeup was that I refused to compromise on quality. I wanted the same results and I wanted it to look flawless. I would not settle for anything less. So, my quest began almost 2 years ago, and by now I have a perfect arsenal that I wanted to share with any of you all who might be interested in ditching the toxins in your stuff. None of these are drugstore brands (sorry), but I will include links to all items. Some are affiliate links, which might provide me a percentage of sale, but I am not directly affiliated at all with any of the brands, and all opinions are 100% my own.

Skincare
In my arsenal I like to have a good facewash, a face scrub, a moisturizer, a clay mask, and some kind of serum or treatment to correct pores and smooth skin. Those are my must haves, the rest are indulgences. The brands I love are Juice Beauty, Tarte, Weleda, and 100 percent pure. They all have great stuff, I will list the ones I know to be good below. These are all totally natural amazing products that have stood up to the pricey stuff I got at Sephora for years.
Juice Beauty:
-Cleansing Milk: Moisturizing cleanser that smells like a fruit parfait.
-Blemish Clearing Mask: Great hydrating mask for those with acne
-Nutrient Moisturizer: Thick and nourishing, perfect for night.
-Oil-Free SPF 30 Moisturizer: Great for when you want SPF during the day. It's a light and airy moisturizer
-Smoothing Eye Concentrate: I love this eye cream, it goes on light and feels ultra moisturizing
Tarte:
-Amazonian Clay Double Detox Face Mask: My go to clay mask
-Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover Wipes
-Maracuja Oil
-Maracuja Oil Lip Exfoliant
-Maracuja Oil Vitamin-C Brightening Eye Cream
Weleda:
-Welada Skin Food: This stuff is a MUST. It really is food for your skin, and makes your face feel incredible.
-Cold Cream: For use on VERY dry skin in the winter. This is so thick but doesn't clog pores.
100 Percent Pure:
-Brightening Face Scrub & Mask: Nice 2 in 1 product, the scrub is gentle but smells heavenly.
-Argan Oil Facial Moisturizer SPF 30: Another good SPF option for daytime wear during more dry conditions.

Makeup:
A flawless finish on the skin and looking like a million bucks is one of those great mood lifters that you can't possibly explain in words. I was really bummed when I threw away all my other makeup, but honestly now I am SO glad I did because I found a brand that trumps all of those, and it's ALL NATURAL. I'm talking about TARTE! Yes, Tarte Cosmetics is all natural and chemical free, not to mention cruelty free and they give back to the environment. I have not tried 1 single product from them which I do not adore. I know that some of this stuff can be pricey, but it lasts a LONG time. And it's not harming your health, so to me it's worth every penny. As far as makeup goes I tried a few other brands who use fruit tinted makeup, but none blew me away. To date, only Tarte is what I use because time and time again it beat any and all competition. Below are my favorites.

Below are my favorites.

Amazonian clay full coverage airbrush foundation ($36): This is the only face makeup you will need. It takes the place of liquid foundation and powder and finishes flawless. Using a kabuki brush you simply buff this into your skin. The coverage is perfect and it doesn't dry out the skin but still keeps shine down all day. It really does look airbrushed like the title says. I have gotten compliments for having nice skin when I wear this, and if you know me then you know I'm so self conscious of my skin that that compliment was like angels singing. Best part? It's so quick. You just buff it on and in about 20 seconds you're done. Easy. One pot lasts me a year, but on average I would say 6 months.

colored clay CC undereye corrector ($24): Under eye bags and dark circles are like the plague that comes with chronic illness. You can not escape it. This under eye corrector is so so good. They use clay in a lot of their products and it really helps hold to the skin for an all day finish that does not cake or clump. I love this because it has a yellow undertone that really makes coverage flawless. You dab a small amount on and rub it in as needed. I also use this on my eyelids to set my eyeshadow (if i wear it), or to just take the darkness out of my eyelids. This pot is deep and it will last a long time. It can also be used on acne or other trouble spots, but they also have a concealer (which I own as well) that you can view HERE. The concealer has a wider range of colors too so that might end up working better for some.

timeless smoothing primer ($39): This stuff is like liquid gold. This primer has a smooth silicone feel that goes in and blurs all imperfections in the skin. It fills in the pores and any wrinkles you may have. Truly amazing. I save this for special occasions though because it can be pricey. But it blends beautifully and creates a smooth palette for the face that makes everything else go on like porcelain. I am a big fan.

best in faux lash extending fibers ($19): If I could only pick 1 single makeup item to keep it would be hands down my mascara. Having nice eyelashes to me is easily the most important part of the whole face. I found a best friend who is as obsessed with good eyelashes as I am and we geek out over mascara. This was my most nerve wracking switch because I had a tried and true mascara that I used for years. Changing it up was stressful, but this made the switch easy. First I fell in love with the lights camera lashes 4-in-1 mascara which works so well. Then this kit came out a few months ago, and it takes the lash game up 10 notches. This is a 2 piece set which has the 4-in-1 mascara and also has lash fibers you build on top to give you the look of false eyelashes. The results are phenomenal. The kit can be used with or without the extra fibers and you get a good bang for your buck.

Amazonian clay 12-hour blush ($26): I'll keep this one simple. This blush has a strong pigment, long wear, and does not smudge. Also, beautiful color options. I use dollface.

Amazonian Clay Mineral Bronzer ($30): This bronzer is universally flattering on any skin-tone, and lasts a long time. It wears with a beautiful shimmer (although they do have a matte version), and it will last you easily a year. I have been using this for at least 8 years, way before I knew Tarte was natural.

EYES. Tarte has many gorgeous eyeshadows that also use Amazonian clay and stay put well. Their palettes they offer change with the season, and I know everyone has their own preference, but you can view all their shadows HERE. I have only used the powder shadows myself. The eyeliners are also excellent and made with clay (shocking I know), so they last. They are also waterproof and I kid you not I drew on my hand with an eyeliner once and it stayed on for 2 days. They do not take that promise lightly. I washed my hands easily 20 times and it did not budge. My favorite eyeliner of them all can be found HERE (pictured to the left) but I should note they are all equally amazing. I simply prefer a more smoldering smokey look myself, so I love how these blend.

LipSurgence skintuitive lip tint ($24): This is hands down the COOLEST product that Tarte offers. This skintuitive™ formula responds to your skin’s natural pH, giving you a personalized tint that is truly your own unique shade of pink. That means this will look different on every single person. It goes on totally clear and then changes once it is on your lips when it senses your pH. My color is completely different from my moms color. It can even change with mood. The coolest part is that it always suits you perfectly. Also it is a long lasting lip tint which also is a lip gloss that hydrates for hours. Simply amazing. All their lip tints are gorgeous, they have many, and you can check them all out HERE.
